The Cameron Family’s Disney Cruise
Thanks for reading my blog about the Cameron Family’s Disney Cruise. In case any of you in the blogosphere are interested, this is the particular cruise that I am referring to (Itinerary ‘A’):
To keep things organized and interesting, we’ll be creating a separate post on each of the three ports that we visited: St. Maarten, St Thomas/St John, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Castaway Cay!
Locations of the port stops!
Saint Maarten (Location: Caribbean)
St. Martin is an island in the northeast Caribbean, around 190 miles east of Puerto Rico. Interestingly, the island is geographically and governmentally divided between two countries, the Netherlands and France. For history buffs, read about The Treaty of Concordia.Tourists often define the Dutch side as being highly developed with abundant nightlife and watering holes, with the French side saturated with awesome viewing spots, shopping locales, and beaches.
Places to see
Fort St. Louis – a fort overlooking Marigot Bay, the fort was built by France’s King Louis XVI and provides a 360-degree view of the island.
Mount Concordia – The original site where the treaty signing took place between the French and Dutch.
Marigot – is small city on the French side; with cafes, pastry shops, and shopping.
Phillipsburg – is the capital of Dutch St. Marteen and is a busy trade center; includes many shopping locales and cafes.
