Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
At Fountain Hills, Arizona
Fountain Hills, Arizona brings you the best of the Southwest. Its famous fountain was the world’s tallest fountain with its full height of 560 feet. It is just one of the best places to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. During this yearly event, the famous Fountain Hills’ Fountain plume turns green. It’s not a fungus, algae, or mold that causes the discoloration. The fountain was dyed green to mark the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
Incredibly Green!!!
The famous Fountain runs as usual on St. Patrick’s Day. The water starts to go out with no dye and when the green dye is injected into the stream the effect is truly incredible. It usually happens during noon time and sometimes at 6:00 p.m. The intensity is greater at the start of the run and will lasts for about half an hour. It takes 55 gallons of dye to make it happen. For those who love to take photos and videos, be sure to take in account the angle of the sun for the best shot.
There were two stages set up in different areas of the park – the Main Stage and the Community Stage. The west side of Fountain Park gets fenced off for entertainment stands. Arts & crafts and a coloring contest were other activities available throughout the day. Local business vendors also had booths set up so you could see what they have to offer.
It’s Picnic Time
The blue skies and perfect temperature makes this event a perfect time for picnics. Most spectators bring with them their family and friends with coolers filled with food and drink and stretched out on the plentiful grassy space surrounding the lake. You could either bring your own food to the event or enjoy the tasty fare available at the event. Phil’s Filling Station will be serving up green potatoes, cabbage, and traditional corned beef. Orange Place offers fries, hamburgers, and fruit drinks. Pink Pepper Thai Cuisine will also offer dipped chocolate fruit and Thai foods.
