St. George Feast Of The Middle East 2013

Don’t miss this amazing chance to enjoy together with the whole family at this once in a year event which is the “St. George Feast of the Middle East”.

St. George Feast of the Middle Eastis a yearly celebration offers fun and exciting activities including food fest for all the guests who will be joining the event. This year’s festival will be held at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church which can be found at 4530 E. Gold Dust, one block South of Shea and West of Tatum. The church of St. George has already been a fixture here in the Valley for almost 60 years. It is also among the two Antiochian Orthodox churches that can be found in Greater Phoenix.

Church’s Background

St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church becomes a part of the Archdiocese of Antiochian Orthodox Christian in North America. Also known as the Eastern Orthodox Church, this Orthodox Church was also considered as the very first Christian church.

The schedule for this year’s St. George Feast of the Middle Eastis listed below:

  • October 4, 2013 – (5:00 pm up to 9:00 pm)
  • October 5, 2013 – (11:00 am up to 10:00 pm)
  • October 6, 2013 – (11:00 am up to 7:00 pm)

The Admission to this fantastic yearly celebration is for FREE so anyone can join in this exciting event. Bring your entire family with you so that you can really enjoy this colorful festival.

Festival Highlight

Food Feast

This year’s annual St. George Feast of the Middle Eastfestival features amazing surprises and incredible lineup of activities available for all ages. One of the best highlight of this year’s event is the exquisite menu inspired by the Middle Eastern recipes just like the following:

  • Hummus – blend of lemons, tahini sauce, and chickpeas and served with pita bread
  • Grape Leaves – stuffed with meat, spices, and rice and served with yogurt and pita bread
  • Tabouli– finely chopped mint, diced vegetables, and parsley and tossed with lemon juice, olive oil, and wheat then served with pita bread
  • Fatoush – a Mediterranean salad of tomatoes, lemon juice, onions, olive oil, cucumber, and sprinkled with mint then served with pita bread

Middle Eastern Pastry

During the festival, you can also enjoy tasting the different freshly made pastries and cookies cooked in a traditional way of baking. This traditional baking style was handed down from generations to generations until this present modern time.

Faranee Bread

During this St. George Feast of the Middle Eastfestival, you can also see the famous Faranee Breadwhich was prepared based on a traditional way of baking.  This unique style of baking this bread is even older than the St. George Church.
