Scottsdale’s Butterfly Wonderland
If you happened to be in Scottsdale, then this spot is definitely one tha you shouldn’t miss. Butterfly Wonderland which opened this year is the newest tourist destination in the Valley.
The Butterfly Sanctuary was set in a tropical, lush rainforest atrium with thousands of different kinds of butterflies fluttering their vibrant wings all over the area.

The butterfly atrium is indeed the largest in the entire United States, with size that range to over 10,000 square foot. The entire surrounding was filled with fresh fragrant of tropical plants and flowers like plumeria and almondverbena that attracts the flying insects around the glass atrium. The sanctuary is a home to various species of insects (300 species to be exact), which is rank second to Texas.
Aside from having numerous varieties of butterflies coming from different places of the world, Butterfly Wonderland also offer other remarkable features that will surely be enjoyed by every guest who will enter the atrium. Some features of the atrium include the following:
- 3D Theater
Start your Butterfly Wonderland adventure on their modern 3D theater which serves as your passport to experience the interesting life and spectacular tale of butterflies on their “Flight of the Butterflies” 3D version. This is a story of the longest insect migration known to men.

Right after going out from the 3D theater, guest can also take the chance to personally witness “metamorphosis” which is one of the breathtaking transformations in nature. See for yourself as the superb Blue Morpho Butterfly unravel its gorgeous wings for the very first time.
- Honey Bees
Covered by glass and made up of huge beehive, this sophisticated exhibit enables every guest to view their genuine bred honey bees while they perform their day-to-day activities. Honey bees are over ½ inch long and are often yellow color along with three to five abdominal bands with dark brown colors.
Admission Fees
Butterfly Wonderland is open daily from 9:00 in the morning up to 5:00 in the afternoon. General admission fee entitlers every guest to a full Butterfly Wonderland adventure that only cost $18.95 plus tax per adult guest; $9.95 plus tax every child ages 3 to 11 years old; and $16.95 plus tax for every student guest, senior citizen ages 62 years old and above, and military with Ids. Children ages 2 years old and below are free of charge.
