I promised a short version of the whole Muddy Buddy Race and here it is. I hope you enjoy. Be sure to watch the end as we crawl through the Mud Pit!
I have been mountain biking for about 6 years now. Weekly we hit the McDowell Mountains in our back yard for rides. It is a fantastic sport and I post these videos to share my experience and hope to motivate some of you that want to ride to take the step. As a matter of fact, I got a call from a friend today that just got a bike. We hope to ride this weekend. It is an exciting and dangerous sport, on a ride last month my friend broke his arm. I have been brused up in the past, but nothing major. But it is worth every bruise. I will continue to post my rides and please don’t hesitate to email or call to join a ride!
This video is from the Muddy Buddy Race held here in Phoenix on December 13, 2009. It was at the McDowell Mountain Park on the east side of the McDowell Mountains north of Fountain Hills and south of Rio Verde. Next year the event will be on November 10, 2010. You can check it out at http://muddy-buddy.competitor.com/event-info/phoenix/
We didn’t compete very well this year. I decided not to bring a camelback with water and ended up drinking too much water and power drinks before the start. I should have stopped my bike and puked, but I didn’t want to stop. John got a little too into shooting video, but had a blast. Next year I plan on being a competitor for the time and a good 30 pounds lighter!
