Mountain Biking -McDowell Mountains – We are headed up Sunrise today!

Looks like mother nature is going to give us a dry ride.  I can only see to the south and west, but that is where the storm came from this week. My buddies and I made rain or shine plans to hit the sunrise trail today. We are meeting at the Lost Dog trail head over at 124 and Via Linda, north on 124 to the end. This is just at the south base of the McDowell Mountains. I just looked it up and the Peak for Sunrise is 2,857 feet. we will be starting at Lost Dog Wash Trail which is 1,770 feet. We will be climbing 1,087 feet today.  The whole Sunrise trail is 4.4 miles. But we will approach from the west and the peak will be a 3.5 mile ride. It will be a long grueling ride. Then when we get up on top we ridge ride for a while. That is fun, but there is a level of danger racing through the heart because you can fall either way and just roll!

Here is a link to the trail map:  http://www.mcdowellsonoran.org/map.html

The return trip is a blast, you just fly down the hill.

Look for video later tomorrow or next week. Please subscribe or comment!
