MONTECITO

Montecito at McDowell Mountain Ranch

One of the last subdivisions built in McDowell Mountain Ranch was by Greystone Homes, called Montecito. Montecito is located south east of the corner of Thompson Peak Parkway and Bell Road and was built from 1997 to 1999. Directly north is the Scottsdale Sonoran Preserve and Gateway to the McDowells. This is an awesome trailhead with facilities for hikers and bikers to enter the Preserve.

With 83 lots, Montecito offered four different Floor Plans. Two single level models (The San Miguel and The Santa Barbara) and two 2 story models (The Castillo and The Presidio). They range in size from 2217 to 3642 square feet. However, different variations altered the sizes of each of these distinctive floor plans. Each model was also offered in three elevations. Buyers chose from  Italian Villa to Spanish Colonial or the European Country. Each elevation varied both with regard to window treatments, roof and entry configurations.

Many home sites in Montecito at McDowell Mountain Ranch back to natural open space. There are incredible mountain views available and from select lots city light views.

The San Miguel

SAN MIGUEL Montecito at McDowell Mountain ranch

The San Miguel model offers a single level floor plan with 2,217 square feet. The master is split with 3 other bedrooms on the opposite side of the house. Many opted for the den in lieu of the 4th bedroom. there are 2 bathrooms.

The family room and kitchen combo are in the center of the home, it is very open. At the entry we find a more traditional living room and formal dining room, however, I have seen this as a game room many times.

The standard floor plan included a 3 car garage. A popular option was to add another room or den in lieu of the 3rd bay of the garage. This increased the square footage to 2,437. An additional option included a 3rd bath in this private suite. Thus creating the potential for a 5 bedroom 3 full bath single level home in McDowell Mountain Ranch.

The Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara at Montecito at McDowell Mountain Ranch

Santa Barbara is the larger single level floor plan in Montecito at 2,769 square feet. This is a popular split master floor plan. This home offers 4 bedrooms plus a den. This is the magical 5 Room single level home desired by so many buyers.

The master is split behind the 3 car garage for privacy. There is a luxurious master bath with both separate tub and shower, plus a large walk in closet.  The den is located on the master side of the house, far from the family room and kitchen areas.

As you enter the foyer, directly in front is the formal living room and dining room. Opposite the master is a large kitchen over looking the family room for a “Great Room.” The kitchen offers an Island and large walk in pantry.

There are 3 more bedrooms a full bath for the beds and powder room for guests.

The Castillo

The smaller of the 2 two-story floor plans is The Castillo. This home offers 2,812 Square Feet. There are 5 bedrooms, and 3 to 4 baths depending on the original buyer’s upgrades and a 3 car garage.

There is a variation at 2,959 sq. ft. which offers a computer loft and another at 3,140 sq. ft. with a bonus room. The Castillo has a very traditional style.

Upon entering the home you are in the Formal Living room. Pass through to the Formal Dining room and in the back of the home is the open Kitchen and Family Room, Great Room set up. It is light bright and open. A very important factor is the bedroom and full bath downstairs. Great for family and friends.

Upstairs find the master and 3 more bedrooms with 2 baths. The bedrooms are huge in the Castillo.

The Presidio

The two story Presidio plan is 3419 Square Feet in the standard set up. The builder gave many options that brought the home to as large as 3.642 sq. ft. Downstairs has a unique feel as you enter the foyer with a dramatic spiral staircase and Juliet.

Straight back was the Formal Living Room and Dining Room. But unlike many single level floor plans, the staircase and foyer set them back far enough they can easily be private game rooms. The garage is split, 1 car on one side and a 2 car on the other side. There was an option to add a 4th car garage. Adding the 4th bay gave the option to convert the single car bay to a den or guest room.

The kitchen and Family room are spacious and behind the 2 car garage. Upstairs traditionally was the master and 2 other bedrooms, plus a bonus room. Most of the time I have seen this bonus room converted to a suite with its own private bath.

This home can have up to 6 bedrooms and 4.5 baths depending on the options chosen by the original buyer.
