On our recent trip to Alaska fishing, my buddy Rich Fix brought in the big ones. The video shows him landing a 110 pound Halibut. He fought the fish for about 25 minutes before landing her. She ran on him a couple of times and was fun to fight. We went to Sitka, Alaska and fished with a group called Angling Unlimited.
When you catch a fish this big it can be a danger to bring into the boat. Not only can it hurt you, but the boat and the meat on the fish. Think of how a small 1 pound trout flops on the floor and try to imagine a 110 pound Halibut doing that. It can destroy a lot. So, the captain brings out the shot gun while the fish is along side the boat and he shots it in the head.
