We are finally seeing some good news on the job front as jobless claims dip and Arizona’s job picture brightens!
Are you unemployed or under employed? So far the recovery has only been felt by big business, the wealthy and stock values. Jobs are what every day American’s need. We know that big business is sitting on $2,000,000,000,000. WOW! That is 2 trillion dollars, lots of zero’s. As more jobs are created, big business will get off the wall and start spending those reserves. Let’s hope they don’t use them for Mergers and Acquisitions, as that would kill jobs. We need them to put that money to work employing people. As new jobs are created, they will feel more comfortable.
I am surprised the technology sector is not doing better. Computers are so cheap, faster than those of a few years ago and they hold more information. At the end of last year I bought a new computer. I saved me more in repair costs, you know having the IT guy over or taking it in to get the bugs out. It cost a minimum of $200 to take a computer in to be repaired. Heck, a new one only costs $350. My staff was spending so much time rebooting computers to get them to run right, buying a new computer saved me triple the cost in efficiency of my staff.
Are you listing!
I would love to see Arizona take the lead in research and development of alternative feuls. Not only the R & D, but manufacturing of them too. This is where the big growth will be over the coming decade of high paying jobs. We can either educate, research, discover, invent, manufacture and imploy people here or we can import from other countries. Which do you prefer?

Arizona expected to see job growth
by Betty Beard – Sept. 17, 2010 12:00 AM
The Arizona Republic
Very soon, Arizona is projected to record something the state has been sorely missing for 31 months: job growth.
The number of jobs in the state, compared with the number a year earlier, is set to increase after declining every month since February 2008. The growth could begin in as little as a month, according to economists.
The turn around, no matter how small and fitful, can’t come soon enough for recession-weary residents. The Arizona Department of Commerce on Thursday said the August unemployment rate reached 9.7 percent, its highest point in 27 years. The total number of non-farm jobs has been climbing month by month for most of 2010 but has hovered below the break-even mark at which the state is no longer losing jobs. In the August numbers released Thursday, the total number of non-farm jobs was just 0.1 percent below the total of a year earlier.
Two big threats to the economy shrink a bit

WASHINGTON (AP) – The economy may have a long way to go, but at least two big threats are fading.
Economists are less worried that the U.S. will experience another round of mass layoffs and its first bout of deflation since the 1930s after the release of two government reports Thursday.
The third drop in jobless claims in four weeks and a mild uptick in wholesale prices in August add to evidence that a second recession is unlikely.

Senate passes $30b small-business credit bill
By ANDREW TAYLOR
The Associated Press
WASHINGTON – The Senate passed long-delayed legislation Thursday designed to open up credit to small businesses and award them with other incentives to expand and hire new workers.
Democrats won a 61-38 vote to pass the legislation, joined by two Republicans. The measure would establish a $30 billion government fund to help open up lending for credit-starved small businesses, cut their taxes and boost Small Business Administration loan programs.
The tally gives President Barack Obama and his besieged Democratic allies in Congress a much-sought – but relatively modest – political victory with less than seven weeks to go before Election Day.
Obama said Thursday that the bill will help millions of small business owners across the country grow and hire. “These tax breaks and loans are going to help create jobs in the short term,” he said.
