Wow, what a storm last night… and continuing right now. Last night, we were experiencing light rain at about 8:30 the news started to report a possible tornado. It looked real cool as they discussed the hook picked up on radar. I ran outside and it was just sprinkling. I thought how could that be so close and nothing here. I live in McDowell Mountain Ranch and they were reporting the tornado possibly between Desert Ridge and the Pinnacle Peak area, only 5 to 10 miles away.
All of the sudden the house rocked! I grabbed my camera and ran outside. This is the footage I captured. I didn’t see the tornado. I couldn’t see far at all. I should have brought out my Go Pro Hero helmet cam in its water proof case, but things were happening too quickly.
The rain was blowing sideways. I have seen this in the summer monsoon rains, but never with a winter storm here in Scottsdale. It was crazy. I was wondering if the tornado was close to us. The house was making weird noises like never before. I finally realized I should be inside and not be a stupid statistic if the tornado is close.
Amazingly, about 15 minutes later it was over. I scanned the paper today and found no evidence of a tornado. I am sure the facts will be out by later today. I drove around and shot some more video. I will put that out later.
