DIY Home Improvements

335888_lWith the housing marking booming in the Scottsdale area of northeast Phoenix, there’s an influx of new residents and potential home buyers coming into the area. If you’re trying to sell your home, or just want to keep it up to date and looking it’s best, you’ll need to keep up, if not show up, the various DC Ranch homes and Grayhawk homes for sale throughout the area. Here are a DIY few tips that can help you keep your house at the top.

1: New Paint

It may seem like a chore, but think about it. How old is your house? When was the last time it got a fresh coat of paint and how is it looking now? Step outside, walk out to the curb, and really take a good long, objective look at your house. Maybe invite a friend or neighbor over to look with you to see things you might not notice. A fresh coat of paint can do wonders for making a house look new and crisp again.

2: Windows to the Soul

Well, maybe not to the soul, but to your house, certainly. Old, dingy windows can make even the nicest house look decrepit and a little spooky, which is great if you’re setting up a haunted house for Halloween, not so much if you’re trying to sell. Upgrading from older, single-pane windows to energy-efficient, multi-pane windows can also lower your utility costs. Be sure to choose a style that matches the rest of the house and pay attention to what style is popular in your neighborhood. You want to stand out, but not like a sore thumb.

3: Colorful Flora

Flowers in the desert? Surely, sir, you jest! Actually, there are a great many beautiful desert flowers that can indeed thrive in the Arizona climate. Talk to someone at your local nursery and find out what flowers do well in your area. Some inexpensive perennials can add a lot of color to the front of your home, which brings a warm, welcoming feeling to your home, right from the first glance. Certainly, an easy and fun DIY tip!
