St. Patrick’s Day is here once again. This year’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Phoenix will be a lot more different. It will be more fun and exciting. The festivals and events were geared towards providing people a glimpse of Irish culture. St. Patrick’s Day celebration is just one of the biggest event and celebration in Phoenix. The 30th year of working to preserve and enhance Irish traditions and heritage is truly worth celebrating for.
St. Patrick’s Day always starts with a parade which will feature almost one hundred entries including the 2013 Arizona Irish Colleen and her court, fire vehicles, police vehicles, bagpipers, floats, dancers, and dignitaries. Hance Park will also be open for the fair featuring kids’ rides, face painting, Irish performers, crafters, clowns, vendors, and Irish musicians. For those who want to learn about cultural programs and Irish genealogy, the McClelland Irish Library and the Irish Cultural Center are also available for visitors.
The event is not just for fun alone, it also help benefit St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix by encouraging all participants from every activity to bring non-perishable items. Raffle tickets for cash prizes will be given out to those who donate and a donation truck will travel down the parade route as well.

A Celebration of Celtic Culture
This event will take place on March 15, 2013 from noon until 8:30 in the evening. Celebrate Celtic heritage with Tramor/Overseas, Liz Warren, Billy Parker, Greg “Sule” Wilson, and Brid Dower starting noon time. The celebration will continue at 6 p.m. featuring Trotters Wake, a five-piece acoustic Irish band playing a mix of new and old Irish drinking songs, traditional instrumental tunes, ballads, and rebel songs on instruments like bodhrבn (an Irish drum), electric bass, piano, and fiddle. Drink specials are available for $5 including the Emerald (Irish whiskey, vermouth, orange bitters and orange peel) and Guinness and Harp beers for $3. A Celtic-inspired dish is also available for purchase in the museum café from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The price ranges from $15 and $13 for seniors, $10 for ages 6-17, free for age 5 and younger.
Kiss Me I’m Irish Run
The activity will happen on March 17, 2013 at 7:17 in the morning featuring 4K, 8K and 17K run-walks on a flat and fast track. Irish music and a chocolate kiss will be given to all participants who will reach the finish line. The first 1,700 to register for the 8K or 17K get green shirts made of eco-friendly bamboo and a green T-shirts are also given to pre-registrants. There will be incredible prizes that will be awarded for the top dads and lads team, best St. Patty’s themed running outfit, cutest pet, as well as to the three finishers.
Irish Republic St. Patrick’s Day Festival
The festival will happen on March 17, 2013 from noon until 2:00 a.m. The Irish Republic Public House will invade downtown Chandler with a festival that includes traditional Irish foods, beer, and game like beer pong, bean-bag toss, cabbage bowling, and a dunk-the-leprechaun tank. VIP tickets include an all-access lanyard, a private restroom, admission, and a VIP area with catered food and treats. The price ranges from $40 VIP, $10, $8 in advance, $5 for designated drivers, free for age 12 and younger when accompanied by a paying adult. The proceeds for this event are for the benefit Chandler Fire Department Pipes & Drums.
